WRIGHT BROTHERS: DAYTON 1909

The Nation State and City Welcome the World's Greatest Aviators Dayton, OH: Walker Litho Co., June 17-18 - 1909. Original lithographic poster, 800 x 556 mm, linen-backed with some expert repairs.

Dayton, after exhibiting for years a lack of interest in the Wright Brothers' work on their flyer, finally took notice after they returned as heroes from their exhibition in Paris. The two-day parade and festival was called the biggest celebration the city ever had. Still, through it all, the Wilbur and Orville managed to sneak away to work for hours whenever they could in order to prepare for the trials to come at Fort Myer.
