APOLLO 8: CREW SIGNED HEADLINE
PARCHMENT EDITION OF NEW YORK TIMES CHRISTMAS DAY PAGE.
New York Times December 25, 1968 [front page], 9 1/2 x 5 inches, on imitation parchment paper, stamped with US 6-cent Apollo 8 stamp and with first day cancel dated May 5, 1969.
SIGNED BY ALL 3 MEMBERS OF THE APOLLO 8 CREW: Bill Anders, Frank Borman & James Lovell. An unusual item to commemorate the first crewed spacecraft to leave low Earth orbit and to orbit the Moon. The piece bears the six-cent stamp that was illustrated with the Anders-photographed Earthrise and cancelled on the day it was issued.
