Stony Meteorite with Fusion Crust
Stony, Unclassified NWA
Sahara Desert, Northwest Africa
Looking as fresh as if it fell yesterday, this stony meteorite is completely covered in its original dark brown fusion crust on four of its sides with only the flat bottom free of fusion crust. Most stony meteorites are sectioned for collectors; it is rare to find a complete example. The unique specimen was found in the Sahara Desert and is designated as an Unclassified NWA meteorite. It is magnetic, as are all stony meteorites that do not come from planets, and is probably an Ordinary Chondrite with chondrules. The majority of meteorites found in the past decade have come from the vast Sahara Desert. Weighing approximately 592.5 grams and measuring 3 ½ x 3 x 3 in
