Snakefly Larva in Burmite Amber

This clear piece of 100-million-year-old Burmite exhibits a beautifully preserved snakefly larva. Snakefly larvae are predatory, feeding on eggs, other larvae and small insects; the larval stage lasts from two to six years. Adults voraciously prey on many types of insects; they display large heads with projecting mandibles. Larva measuring approximately 7mm; Amber measuring 36 x 25mm
