Multi-color Iridescent Ammonite

Placenticeras costatum
70,000,000 million years ago
Bearpaw Formation, Alberta, Canada

Collected in the summer of 2020 from the bottom layer of the Bearpaw shale, this beautiful ammonite displays an excellent, fully inflated shape and vivid colors. It displays spectacularly and boasts extremely bright colors throughout including red, orange, gold, green, and a lot of the rare blue. This specimen is from the lowest layers of the Bearpaw formation; the best Ammolite gemstones come from these layers as well. This ammonite exhibits all the characteristics of why colorful Canadian ammonites are considered precious. Diameter: 12 1/4 in (31 cm). Weighing approximately 4.7 kg
