Perhaps the most beautiful of all species to arise from the famous Holzmaden locality are the crinoids, commonly known as sea lilies. These delicate, plant-like life forms were actually animals, which passively fed in the warm, shallow Jurassic seas in the area now known as Southern Germany. The filter-feeders would attach to a floating object, typically driftwood, and capture food in their delicate calyxes, the blossom-like portion of the body. The present unique crinoid specimen, in natural matrix, is honed. A dimensionally prepared ammonite is also seen. Fitted with a custom cleat system built into the metal framework for ease of display on any wall of conventional construction. Measuring 29 x 35 x 2 in
