Cretaceous
Hjoula, Lebanon

Unlike the well-known fishes of Cretaeous Lebanon, the soft bodied fossils of Hjoula are much more rare. Trachyteuthis is an extinct squid which may actually be more closed related to the octopus. Typically, only the beaks of these rare cephalopods are fossilized. However, the body of the present fine specimen is almost completely preserved and includes the ink sack as well.
