Fine, Large "Paraiba-type" Blue Tourmaline
This stunning, very large pear-shaped tourmaline has a natural and unenhanced blue color which is attributable to the presence of naturally occurring copper and manganese. The clarity is excellent for the species of tourmaline. Weighing approximately 33.33 carats and measuring 24.10 x 18.82 x 13.18mm

Accompanied by a Gemological Institute of American report numbered 217190153 dated October 7, 2016 stating that the violetish blue 33.33 carats tourmaline contains copper and manganese that may be called "paraiba tourmaline" in the trade. This tourmaline does not show any indication of heating. The country of origin is Mozambique.
Accompanied by an American Gemological Laboratories report numbered 1117786 dated October 5, 2021 stating that the 33.33 carats pear-shaped tourmaline is a paraiba-type tourmaline and that it originates from Mozambique. "Paraiba-type" is a term/color variety applied by the AGL to the copper-bearing variety of elbaite tourmaline, which was first discovered in the Paraiba state of Brazil, but may have originated from a different source. The color is natural and there is no clarity enhancement. Non-heated paraiba-type tourmalines are scarce.
