"Paraiba-type" Tourmaline
This fine pear-shaped stone has a distinct bluish green color due to traces of copper which are the origin of its color. The transparency is excellent for the species of tourmaline as is the luster and the size of the stone would ideally lend itself for use in mounting as either a ring or pendant. Weighing approximately 7.49 carats and measuring 15.42 x 10.51 x 7.53mm
Footnotes
Accompanied by an American Gemological Laboratories report numbered 1117788 dated October 5, 2021 stating that the 7.49 carats bluish green tourmaline is a "paraiba-type" tourmline: a term/color variety applied by the AGL to the copper-bearing variety of elbaite tourmaline which was first discovered in the paraiba state of Brazil, but may have originated from a different source. The country of origin of this stone is stated to be Mozambique. This color variety of tourmaline is commonly the result of a relatively low temperature heating process. This gemstone contains fissures which at the time of testing were only partially filled. The stability of this type of enhancement is very good to good.
