AN ORANGY RED SPINEL AND DIAMOND RING
Footnotes
Accompanied by AGL report no. 1108694, dated 23 July 2020, stating that the orangy red spinel, weighing approximately 10.92 carats, is of Classic Burma (Myanmar) origin, with no gemological evidence of enhancements/treatments present.
Together with an AGL appendix letter stating, "Top-quality Burmese spinels possessing such an extraordinary combination of large size, exceptional color, superior clarity and fine cut are extremely rare. Such gems uphold and reaffirm the esteemed status of a Burmese spinel and its reputation as the premier spinel source in the world."
Large gem-quality spinels, such as those found in the British Crown Jewels and the Crown Jewels of Iran, have often been reserved for only royal audiences. Rarer than ruby, fine Burmese spinel has become increasingly sought after by gem connoisseurs around the world. Red spinel, ranging from orangy-red to purplish-red, is the most highly prized color of all spinel. Making this piece rarer still is its size, as gem enthusiasts will be hard-pressed to find superior quality spinel in sizes over five carats. Bonhams is delighted to offer this fine 10.92 carats Burmese spinel. Capturing the bright flame of a glowing fire, this spinel dazzles at every angle, leaving no question as to why this gemstone's growing desirability has inspired royal collectors for centuries.
