Footnotes

Provenance
Zorensky Collection (mug)
Norman Stretton Collection (jug)

The mug is illustrated by Simon Spero and John Sandon, The Zorensky Collection (1996), p.393. The 'Whitton Anglers' is attributed to Robert Hancock and derived from part of 'A View of the Canal and of the Gothick Tower in the garden of His Grace the Duke of Argyl at Whitton' by William Wollett, printed by Robert Sayer. The print appears to be unique to Worcester. 'La Diseuse D'Aventure' was engraved by Hancock from an original by Laurent Cars of a painting of the same name by Watteau
