A Dutch engraved Bohemian goblet, circa 1845-60

Of campana form cut with broad flutes and with a petal-cut flange at the base, reserved with a chamfered rectangular panel decorated with a view of the equestrian statue of William of Orange before the Noordeinde Palace in The Hague, titled 'Willem de Zwijger' (William the Silent) below, on a hexagonal baluster stem, the scalloped foot with heavy star-cutting underneath, 22.5cm high

Footnotes

The memorial statue of William of Orange was commissioned and paid for by King Willem II. Designed by Emile de Nieuwerkerke, a French sculptor of Dutch descent, it was cast in Paris and unveiled in The Hague on 17 November 1845.
