Doctor Who: An Extensively Signed Doctor Who Chess Set,

BBC/Danbury Mint, 1990s,
complete set comprising a playing board with lined interior with 38 detailed English pewter pieces depicting heroes and villains from the Classic series of Doctor Who (1963-1989), the underside of the chess board with over thirty signatures in silver marker pen including Jon Pertwee (Third Doctor), Tom Baker (Fourth Doctor, signed in gold ink), Peter Davison (Fifth Doctor), Colin Baker (Sixth Doctor), Sylvester McCoy (Seventh Doctor), and numerous showrunners, cast and creatives, together with original promotional leaflet,
18 3/4 x 18 3/4in x 3 1/4in (47.5cm x 47.5cm x 8.2cm)

Provenance:
The signatures acquired by the vendor, who attended and worked at numerous conventions and events in the 1990's, including Ayl-Con, Birmingham in 1994 and 1995.

The finely detailed chess pieces were released in pairs in 1992, available by subscription only. In addition to five Doctors, the signatures include companions Elizabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith), Nicholas Courtenay (The Brigadier), and Sophie Aldred (Ace); major villains played by Terry Molloy (Davros) and Anthony Ainley (The Master); and prominent creatives on the show Terrence Dicks (Script Editor 1968-1974) and John Nathan Turner (Producer, 1980-1989).
