Provenance:
According to the vendor, this hat came from the personal collection of Ken Trew.

Ken Trew (1936-2014) was a costume designer for Doctor Who, credited on twenty-six episodes of the Classic Series and most notably designing the Seventh Doctor's original costume in a 1987 watercolour sketch. The extensive use of paisley expanded from the hat band to the Doctor's scarf and tie, with the outfit was completed by a cardigan and umbrella each emblazoned with the conspicuous red question mark.

An image of this hat can be seen the in the limited edition print set of his original costume sketch produced by The Collectable Art Company in 2012 (© Grahame Flynn). Please contact the department for an image of this photograph.
