Footnotes

Provenance:
This puppet is from the collection of Terry Curtis. He was responsible for the sculpting of Captain Blue during the 1967-68 Captain Scarlet series and also created Captains Ochre and Grey and Destiny Angel, puppets which also variously appeared later in Thunderbird 6, Joe 90 and The Secret Service.

Captain Blue is the mission partner and close friend of Captain Scarlet. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons ran for a single series of 32 episodes, broadcast in 1967-1968. The head has been re-wigged with mohair eyebrows and hair since the television series, and is the only original version of the puppet head to have 'false teeth'.

"When we went onto Captain Scarlet I was asked to produce Captain Blue. Once again I sculpted him by looking at myself in the mirror in front of me. Sylvia liked him but wanted him to be blonde, and with blue eyes"
- Terry Curtis in A. Shubrook, Century 21 FX, 2015
