Provenance:
The brooch gifted to Pete Tolson of Pretty Things.
Pretty Things was the first UK act to be signed to Swan Song Records, the label launched by Led Zeppelin. A party was held in Chislehurst Caves in Kent on 31st October 1974 to mark the launch of the label, and the release of Pretty Things' album Silk Torpedo. In addition to Led Zeppelin, Pretty Things and manager Peter Grant, guests included the supergroup Bad Company, Maggie Bell, and John Edwards of Status Quo.
Only 12 brooches are thought to have been produced for the launch of Swan Song Records: one presented to each member of Pretty Things (6), Led Zeppelin (4), Manager Peter Grant, and the commissioner. The present Lot includes a photograph of Jon Povey of Pretty Things wearing his Swan Song brooch.
