The prestigious foreign honorary membership was bestowed upon Diana Rigg by the Academy®, in recognition of her prolific career and accolades from across the United Kingdom and the United States.

Rigg was one of the very first members of the Royal Shakespeare Company upon its foundation. She also won a BAFTA for her role in Mother Love (1989) and jointly received a Special Award for The Avengers in 2000. Combined with four Olivier nominations, nine Emmy® nominations (including one win) and four Tony® nominations (including one win), Rigg was highly regarded throughout her career on both sides of the Atlantic.
