Footnotes

Diana Rigg first performed the role of the French abbess Heloise at the Northcott Theatre, Exeter, before transferring to London's West End in 1970. The limited run at LA's Ahmanson Theatre marked her US theatrical debut, and led to the show opening on Broadway in 1971.
