Private Collection, UK, for at least a 100 years

We are grateful to Dott. Sandro Bellesi for suggesting the attribution on the basis of a colour photograph.

Born into a family of sculptors and stonemasons, Giovanni Domenico Ferrucci moved to Florence at a young age to join the studio of Cesare Dandini where he went on to become one of the latter's foremost pupils. At the age of about 30 he set up a studio in Lucca where he was to remain, aside from a few commissions in Pistoia, for the rest of his life.
