A large Meissen composite pastoral group, second half 19th century

The base applied with a dancing couple flanked by two musicians in front of a tall rockwork pedestal applied with a separate group of a seated shepherdess with a lamb and sheep and a shepherd with a dog and holding a flute, the base applied with flowers and leaves and raised on scrollwork feet heightened in pink, turquoise and gilding, 37.5cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, incised model number 'No. 1047' (restored, overpainting around top of rockwork to join)

A Private Swiss Collection of 19th century Meissen

The rockwork base with dancing couple and musicians was originally the lower part of a clock case to which the group of shepherd and shepherdess have been attached.
