A Meissen octagonal turquoise-ground cup and saucer, circa 1740

Reserved with quatrelobe cartouches enclosing European landscape scenes of figures on riverbanks, the saucers with an elaborate gilt scrollwork cartouche edged with puce scrolls, the rims with gilt scrollwork borders, the cup: 8.1cm high, the saucer: 13.2cm diam., crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, impressed numeral to saucer and gilt 1. to both (tiny chip to saucer footrim, some scattered rubbing) (2)
