Two German Powder-Flasks
The First Dated Ao Dni 1570, The Second Late 16th Century

Both with forked body of natural staghorn, the first with polished dated front engraved with a half-length portrait of a nobleman in contemporary costume between the initials 'A' and 'N H', all within decorative line engraved borders, iron mounts (rust patinated) including turned nozzle with sprung tap, and four later suspension rings; the second carved in low relief with a couple in contemporary costume (small area of damage, iron mounts replaced, belt hook and suspension ring missing) (2)
