Two German Or Swiss Halberds
Late 16th/Early 17th Century

The first with long spike of stiff diamond section, crescentic axe-blade pierced with circular holes and with short hooked projection above and below, beak-shaped fluke pierced with a row of four holes and struck with arrowhead-shaped mark on one side, tapering open socket with two transverse rivets on brass rosette-shaped washers, and replacement riveted side-straps, on later ebonised staff of octagonal section; the second of similar form (old pitting, one side-strap replaced), the fluke struck with a floret-shaped mark on one side, on later wooden staff of circular section (2)
