An Indian Powder-Flask, And Another With Its Baldric
All 19th Century

The first of characteristic form with curved hardwood body of tapering circular section profusely set over each side with a dark horn diaper pattern of repeated mother-of-pearl and ivory florets between borders en suite, the top encircled by a slender silver band, detachable lid en suite with the body, and with two silver rings carrying a chain of three twisted silver rings; the second of similar form and covered in burgundy velvet (worn), the outer side and top embroidered in gilt threads with flower-heads enriched with spangles, and with turned bulbous ivory nozzle, the baldric carrying two leather cartridge boxes en suite and each with an iron buckle (3)
The flasks 13.5 cm. and 15 cm. high
