A .52 Percussion Sharps 1859 New Model Breech-Loading rifle
No. 56988, Circa 1860

With sighted barrel retained by three spring-held barrel bands, rifled with six grooves and stamped 'Sharps Rifle Manufg. Co. Hartford Conn.' in front of the folding calibrated adjustable back-sight, the latter stamped 'R.S. Lawrence Patented Feb. 15th. 1869.', the breech stamped 'New Model 1859', action stamped 'R.S. Lawrence Pat. April 12th 1859.', back-action lock stamped 'C. Sharps' Pat. Oct. 5th 1852.', figured butt (disc missing opposite the lock) and fore-stock, steel mounts with butt-plate and hinged patch-box cover, trigger-guard with sliding catch, and sling loops (some light pitting)
