A Cased Pair Of Continental 40-Bore Percussion Target Pistols

With blued octagonal sighted barrels each rifled with fourteen grooves, plain breeches, tangs each with back-sight, plain flat locks and mounts (minor rust patination), the latter comprising shaped butt-caps each drawn-out to a diamond shape and with baluster terminal, spur trigger-guards and pointed trigger-plates, figured half-stocks each with fluted butt and carved with symmetrical foliage in low relief against a finely punched ground on the fore-end, white-metal barrel-bolt escutcheons, and no provision for ramrods: in original veneered wooden case fitted and lined in plum velvet with accessories (nipple-wrench replaced) including brass-mounted powder-flask, the body embossed with a putti and stag on each side
