A Pair Of Continental 55-Bore Percussion Target Pistols
Mid-19th Century, Probably German

With blued octagonal sighted barrels (some old surface patination, one fore-sight incomplete) each with silver lines at the muzzle and breech, the latter engraved with a foliate scroll on top, foliate engraved tangs each with crowned 'VR' and with adjustable back-sight, foliate scroll engraved back-action locks and hammers, figured half-stocks each with fluted butt and carved scroll at the fore-end terminal, foliate scroll engraved white-metal mounts comprising spur trigger-guards and butt-caps, the last drawn-out to form a diamond, trigger-plates with engraved terminals, adjustable set triggers, and no provision for ramrods (2)
