With blued two-stage barrel retaining much of its original fire-blued finish, polygonal to the muzzle and with turned girdle chiselled with acanthus, silver spider fore-sight, long octagonal breech struck at the rear with maker's running stag mark (similar to Neue Støckel 8591) and crowned gold-lined mark, both between two gold-lined floret marks and below four more similar marks and a gold-lined cross, scroll engraved tang numbered '2', flat deeply bevelled lock of shaped outline signed in full in gold, and engraved with foliate scrollwork enclosing a gold-inlaid scroll on the tail, bevelled cock, pan and steel all chiselled en suite against finely punched gold grounds, finely figured full stock (fore-stock mostly replaced) carved with foliated scrollwork in relief, the butt flat along the bottom and with cheek-piece set with a silver mount cast and chased with foliage against a granular ground, full mounts cast and chased in low relief with foliate scrollwork and foliage, comprising shaped side-plate with a stag hunting scene in a landscape, tang plate involving a stag's head between two hounds, crowned vacant escutcheon between putti supporters, engraved butt-plate with the figure of a huntsman surmounted by a grotesque mask, toe-plate with a perched owl in an oval above a pair of hounds emerging from foliated strapwork, figured spur trigger-guard with silver strap cast and chased en suite and involving a hound in an oval over the bow, engraved turned and facetted ramrod-pipes, fore-end cap cast and chased with further foliated strapwork, sling mounts, and later wooden ramrod with tip en suite with the ramrod-pipes
