Provenance:
Lady Dorothea Margaret Wallis née Fowke (1883-1930)

Dorothea was born in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). She married the British lawyer Sir John Edward Power Wallis (1861-1946), Advocate General of Madras (1900-1906) and Chief Justice of Madras High Court (1914-1921). The renowned Scottish engineer, Dr Robert Stevenson (1772-1851), was Dorothea's maternal great-grandfather, famed for the design and construction of lighthouses, and the Scottish novelist, Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894), was a cousin.
