A Villanovan impasto urn and cover
Circa 9th-8th Century B.C.
Of biconical form, the burnished black fabric with incised geometric decoration, a hatched band beneath the flaring mouth, a band of meander around the neck with pendant triangular dot motifs below, the shoulder with horizontal bands and concentric squares with swastikas and a large dotted cross, a looped handle projecting from the shoulder, the cover in the form of a one-handled bowl with incised chevrons, 45cm high
