An Egyptian polychrome cartonnage fragment
Late Ptolemaic Period, circa 2nd-1st Century B.C.
Brightly painted in polychromy, depicting the kneeling figure of Nut with her wings outstretched, holding a single plume in each hand, below two rectangular panels each containing a djed pillar flanked on each side by a Girdle of Isis, with a band of stars above, the goddess kneeling next to further djed and tjet symbols, with striped and chequer decoration below, the interior with a simplistic sketch of kneeling Nut in black and red, mirroring the exterior, 29cm x 27cm
