A Roman marble figure of Jupiter enthroned
Circa 2nd-3rd Century A.D.
Depicted seated on a tall-backed, cushioned throne, his proper right leg extended forward, the sandaled left foot slightly withdrawn, the upper part of the left arm raised for a now missing sceptre-staff, wearing a long chiton and swathed in a voluminous himation, draped over the shoulders and lying across his lap, 28cm high

Cf. the "Westmacott Jupiter" in the J. Paul Getty Museum, LA (acc. no. 70.AA.124.1), dating to the 3rd Century A.D., which also depicts the god seated and garbed in a long chiton and himation, as in the present example, as opposed to the more common bare-chested type.
