A Rare Flintlock Long Land Pattern Service Musket
Dated 1742

With russet sighted barrel and tang, border engraved rounded lock (action defective, mainspring loose and pushing against the stock beneath) with 'GR' crowned and 'Tower' above the date on the tail, figured full stock (some worming and minor damage, fore-stock tip reduced) with characteristic swelling behind the rear ramrod-pipe, butt deeply struck with Ordnance Storekeeper's mark on one side, regulation brass mounts including rounded side-plate and vacant escutcheon, and steel ramrod, probably original, retained by a spring on the forward ramrod-pipe (sling mounts missing), indistinct King's proof mark
