12mo (176 x 113 mm). Disbound, contained in a custom red cloth clamshell box. Lacks portrait of Myles Cooper (present in some copies), two small holes in title, ink stamp on title.
Provenance: Haskell F. Norman (bookplate, his sale Christie's New York, 15 June, 1998 lot 675).

The first American treatise on the History of Medicine and Medical Historiography. Middleton was one of the founders of King's College in 1767 (now Columbia University), and performed one of the first dissections of a human body in America, together with John Bard.
