AN OPAL AND DIAMOND PENDANT NECKLACE, HENRY DUNAY

Set with a trapezium-shaped opal, with pavé-set diamond trim to the pear-shaped, marquise and round brilliant-cut diamond cluster detail, the necklace with alternating diamond clusters and pavé-set diamond wave links; signed Dunay; estimated total diamond weight 40.25 carats; mounted in 18k gold and platinum; pendant length 4.6cm; necklace length 44.0cm

Born in 1935 in an American-Polish family, the young Henry Dunay started as a goldsmith apprentice at age 14. He built his independent workshop in just seven years and took on assignments from other jewellers such as Harry Winston and Van Cleef & Arpels, whilst developing his own brand and business. He stepped into the public spotlight after receiving the De Beers Diamonds International Awards in 1967. His work has been worn by celebrities such as Margaret Thatcher, Elizabeth Taylor, and Nicole Kidman. Most known for his bold designs and fine craftmanship, Dunay remains one of the most influential names in contemporary jewellery design. This necklace we are offering here is representative of Dunay's elegant marriage between gold and gemstones.
