While numerous examples of the Qingming Shanghe tu are extant, the majority are based either on the Song dynasty Zhang Zeduan (12th century) version now in the Palace Museum, Beijing, or the example currently in the Liaoning Provincial Museum ascribed to the Ming dynasty artist Qiu Ying (circa 1494-1552). The present scroll is closest to those versions attributed to Qiu Ying.

Compare with a similar painting of Qingming shanghe tu, Qing dynasty, after Qiu Ying, which was sold at Bonhams New York, 16 March 2015, lot 8086. Another similar painting of the same subject, also after Qiu Ying, was also sold at Bonhams New York, 16 September 2013, lot 8148.
