AN EMBROIDERED 'SILVER PHEASANT' SILK BADGE, BUZI

Early 19th century
Made for the Fifth Civil Rank, finely worked in subtle-shaded satin stitch depicting the elegant bird gazing at the sun, perched upon a rock amongst rolling waves, flanked by branches bearing nine large auspicious peaches and blossoming peonies, all interspersed with vaporous clouds and five bats on a midnight-blue ground within a gold thread key-fret border.
31.5cm (12 1/2in) wide x 31cm (12 1/8in) long.
