Footnotes
Provenance
Formerly in the collection of Johanna Annemarie Scheltema van Putten, probably acquired between the late 1940s-1960s, and hanging at Little Hawsted House, Steep, Hampshire, UK (see photograph) until her death in 2019.
Johanna Annemarie Scheltema van Putten was a Dutch national living in Steep, Hampshire, from the early 1940s. She started buying art and antiques after the war, and on the basis of the black and white photograph showing this lot in situ, it can be estimated that it was acquired at some point between the end of the war and around the 1960s.
