A 'Veneto-Saracenic' silver inlaid-brass candlestick
Venice, circa 1550

of waisted form with flaring drip-tray on a stepped foot, the stem of baluster form, engraved and decorated in silver inlay with interlaced tendrils forming foliate and geometric motifs all on a ground of engraved foliate interlace

A similar candlestick is in the Victoria & Albert Museum (553-1865), and another is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (17.190.637). Another was sold at Sotheby's, Islamic Works of Art, Carpets and Textiles, 17 October 1984, lot 133.
