A Kashan lustre pottery bottle
Persia, 13th Century

of globular form on a splayed foot, the long cylindrical neck with two raised bands terminating in a long flaring scalloped rim, decorated in a golden-brown lustre with bands containing quadrupeds and pseudo-inscriptions to the shoulder and bands containing abstract vegetal motifs interspersed by lozenge panels overlaid with foliate motifs, the neck and shoulder with vegetal interlace and floral motifs, the interior with a band of inscription
23.8 cm. high.
