A Nishapur buffware pottery bowl
Persia, 10th Century

of deep rounded form on a short foot with everted rim, decorated underglaze in yellow, green and manganese on a cream ground with roundels containing birds holding fruits in their beaks, the interstices with floral motifs, the exterior with alternating yellow and green stripes and diagonal hatching
22 cm. diam.
