Footnotes
The identification of the deities is not clear: they are apparently forms of Vishnu. However, the left-hand image may depict Shri Venkateshvara (compare a painting of the late 18th Century in A. L. Dallapiccola, South Indian Paintings: a Catalogue of the British Museum Collection, London 2010, pp. 154-155, no. 12.2).
