A repoussé silver tea set
Kutch, late 19th Century

comprising a teapot, sugar bowl and milk jug, each of globular form on four paw feet with hinged handles surmounted by elephant-shaped finials, angular handles, tea-pot with ivory insulators to handle and curved spout, the body chased and decorated in repoussé with combatant animals amidst scrolling foliage, within acanthus leaf borders, each with engraved shield cartouche; the tray of oval form on four paw feet, similarly decorated with a central cartouche containing a monogram with the inscriptions D.M.A, surrounded by dense scrolling foliage within a narrow acanthus leaf border, openwork rim with floral and foliate scrolls
