the wide double-edged watered steel blade of curved form, chiselled to each side with four fullers with central raised foliate spine issuing from a foliate spray at the forte, the silver pistol hilt with pommel in the form of a rosette, the borders decorated in repoussé with foliate motifs, decorated in silver inlay near the forte with an undulating floral vine, the wood scabbard clad in green velvet with silver mounts
37 cm. long

Footnotes

The present lot is very unusual because the blade is a type usually only used in katars, which would imply that it must have been a special commission. The decoration to the blade suggests Bundi in Rajasthan as a possible place of manufacture.
