An Egyptian architectural ivory-inlaid picture frame by Isma'il il Ridwan
Egypt, dated AH 1301/AD 1882-83, with presentation date April 1937

in the form of a gateway, the doors mounted with openwork steel panels with vegetal interlace, the walls inlaid with ivory tiles and decoration, the windows with mashribiyya screens and turned ivory columns, an inscription-filled cartouche above the gateway, further inscription-filled panels to each side, the lower section with three later added panels containing presentation inscriptions, the two doors sliding open with the aid of a brass wheel to the side to reveal a picture frame
