Noma Copley (born Norma Rathner, 1916-2006) was a noted jewelry designer and philanthropist. She was married to William Copley from 1953-1968 and during this time the couple acquired one of the largest collections of Surrealist paintings and sculpture in America. In 1954, they established the William and Noma Copley Foundation (subsequently renamed the Cassandra Foundation), a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the creative arts. in 1975, New York Magazine cited Noma as "one of New York's most original jewelry designers." The ring she wears in Man Ray's portrait is one of her own creations.
