Ronald Cobb (British, 1907-1977): An original costume design of a Murray's Cabaret Club showgirl in a white dress with red cape,

1950's,
the hand-painted pencil, watercolour and gouache costume design featuring a showgirl in a full-length fitted white dress, white high-collared bolero cape, long red cape and black headpiece, unsigned, mounted, framed and glazed, sight 8in x 13 3/4in (20.5cm x 35cm)

Footnotes

During the 1950's the enthusiasm for the sci-fi genre grew with Hollywood hits galore. As such, Cobb drew on this campy space-age aesthetic, as seen in this 'galactic queen' ensemble. Due to his imaginative designs, Cobb was later asked to design the costumes for The Avengers play at the Prince of Wales Theatre in 1971.
