銅鎏金覺吉祥智像
西藏 十四世紀
Distinctive physical features serve to identify this heavily gilded bronze figure as Buddhashri Sanggye Pal (1339-1419). Buddhashri was an important Sakya teacher who transmitted the lamdre teachings at the order's doctrinal core to Ngorchen Kunga Zangpo (1382–1456), the founder of the Ngor school. Buddhashri was therefore the subject of multiple paintings commissioned during Ngor Monastery's prolific artistic output. Compare the close likenesses, especially the face and the arrangement of his hands touching thumbs in his lap, with a portrait thangka in the collection of the Rubin Museum of Art, New York (P1996.13.1, HAR269).
