Homage to Phargyong Tsultrim Gyeltsen
Himalayan Art Resources item no.16841
This little-known Tibetan hierarch is shown wearing a lotus hat with a sun and crescent moon at the front and a half vajra on top, suggesting that he is a master of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. The hat is modeled after Padmasambhava's, who is the root guru of the Nyingma tradition. Holding a long-life vase in his left hand while raising his right in vitarka mudra, this eccentric teacher looks to his left with alert silver-inlaid eyes.
