Footnotes

Provenance
Sotheby's sale, 2 July 1979, lot 183a

The 'man in the moon' murrina is an example of a cane produced by Giacomo Franchini. The pink rose murrina, usually attributed to his father Giovanni, is thought to have been the inspiration for the Clichy model, see Paul Dunlop, The Dictionary of Glass Paperweights (2009), pp.144-6.
